What is a bibliographic database?

A bibliographic database is an organized digital collection of references to literature. It can be general in scope, such as WorldCat, or cover specific topics, types of literature or regions.

Bibliographic databases are usually highly structured and optimized for subject searching, using keywords or different kinds of subject classification.

This kind of database does not give you the full text of the article, merely the means to find it.
