Say no to discrimination when on the labour market

Legislation

You have the right to equal treatment regardless of your gender, race, skin colour, religion or faith, political opinion, sexual orientation, age, disability or national, social or ethnic origin, for instance when:

  • looking for work
  • carrying out your job
  • negotiating your wage
  • going on maternity/paternity leave
  • applying for further education
  • looking for a work placement or internship
  • applying for promotion
  • being given your notice
  • being transferred

Advice and assistance

The Danish Institute for Human Rights (Institut for Menneskerettigheder) can advise and assist if you feel you have been discriminated against due to your gender, race or ethnic origin.

Where to complain

You can contact your trade union or file a complaint with the Board of Equal Treatment (Ligebehandlingsnævnet) if you believe you have been subjected to discrimination due to your gender, race, skin colour, religion or faith, political opinion, sexual orientation, age, disability or national, social or ethnic origin.
